Range Facilities

The club offers a variety of different shooting ranges for our members and their guests.

Current Range Rules are available here. Current Shooting Calendar is available here.

For shotgun enthusiasts, there are four Shotgun Ranges with voice activated Pat-Trap throwing machines that can be set up for Regular, Continental, Handicap & Doubles trap games. Two of those ranges are also equipped as Skeet fields, and one of those is equipped for Five-Stand (Compact Sporting Clays) with nine different target presentations for a variety of challenging games.

For rifle shooters, the Rifle Range has 40, 50, 75, 100, and 200 yd. target boards, with one concrete and three wooden shooting benches. The rifle range is also used to stage our Metallic Silhouette and Falling Plate matches (rifle and pistol).

The Pistol Range has target boards at 15, 25, and 50 yards plus bowling pin stands and metallic swingers at 50 yards, and our new action pistol ranges provide a safe backdrop for a variety of pistol shooting venues.

All ranges are open for use from 9 AM until 8 PM or dusk (whichever is earlier), with organized clay target sports on Thursdays and Sundays starting at noon; Five-Stand Sporting Clays currently on Sundays only.

Range Certification Classes

Prior to using the handgun, rifle or speed bay ranges, all members must attend a Range Certification class, both when they initially join the Club and every three years thereafter. Starting in the Spring/Summer of 2020 we significantly revised how we deliver these classes. Instead of holding one evening class per month in a classroom, we now offer a choice of two daytime classes per week held outdoors, visiting each of the ranges.

Range certification classes are held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursdays and 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays, are limited to six participants each and require advance, online sign-up. To sign-up for a class, click here for the online scheduling system. This system is fairly self-explanatory, but a walkthrough/tutorial PDF file is included here for your reference. There is no charge for this class and no firearm or ammunition is necessary. Please bring eye and ear protection and meet at the Trap Shack (1st building as you enter the property) a few minutes early. Each class will last up to two hours. If you have a special need please send an email to: range@hhrodandgun.com

Trap Shack

The Trap Shack, with a large seating area, gas stove, and big screen TV, is normally open during regular shotgun shooting on Thursday and Sunday afternoons. It also serves as home base for shotgun tournaments, regular safety and hunter education classes, and other special events. There is a limited selection of ammunition and general shooting supplies available for purchase at the Trap Shack by both members and guests, and periodic bulk purchases of reloading supplies.

RV Sites

We also offer our members ten of the very few RV sites available on South Whidbey. The fee is $10/Night, which includes 20 Amp electric and water.
